Methodology

How we review exchanges

Every exchange is assessed against the same framework so our reviews are consistent and comparable. We gather information from official and primary sources — the exchange's own site and documentation, AUSTRAC and ASIC registers, and public records — and record where each fact came from.

What every review covers

  • Company overview, ownership and history
  • Regulatory standing — AUSTRAC registration, AFSL and Digital Assets Framework Act licence status
  • Security — cold storage, insurance, two-factor authentication and incident history
  • Fees and spreads, supported coins, deposit and withdrawal methods
  • Customer support, mobile app and overall user experience
  • Pros, cons and who the exchange suits (or doesn't)

Facts, opinions and estimates

We separate hard facts (drawn from data and sources) from editorial judgement. Where a figure is an estimate rather than a confirmed fact, we say so. Any record not yet confirmed against official sources carries a visible "data pending verification" notice, and each review shows a "last verified" date.

Independence

Our scores and rankings are algorithmic and are never influenced by commercial arrangements. See our advertising & affiliate disclosure for how we make money.

Not financial advice

Everything we publish is general information only. It is not financial or tax advice, and does not take your personal circumstances into account. Always do your own research.
